Profile of George Djan

George DjanGeorge Djan is a Partner/Principal at Ubora Engineering and Planning, Inc., a civil engineering and land development consulting firm in Roseville, California.  Born and raised in Ghana, he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Urban Planning from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi.  He immigrated to California in the 1980s and obtained a Masters Degree in City Planning from the University of California at Berkeley.  After working for various public agencies after graduate school, he moved to the “dark side”, and started private sector consulting for land development.  He subsequently partnered with two Civil engineers to form “Ubora”, which is a Swahili word for excellence.  

In addition to being an avid racquetball player, George is active in his local and international community.  He has previously served as a) “big” brother for the Bay Area Big Brothers and Big Sisters organization, b) Board member of Sacramento Habitat for Humanity, which builds and finances homes for low income people, c) President of the Ghanaian Association of Sacramento, California, and d) soccer coach for the Greenhaven Soccer Club, Sacramento.  He is currently the Chair of the Board of Trustees for Greenhaven Neighborhood Church.

George is a proud husband and a hands-on father of two: Adwoa, a teenage girl,  and Kweku, a handsome 10 year old boy. 

George believes in giving back to his community, especially the motherland of Ghana that has given him so much.
