Profile of Dr. Sodzi Sodzi-Tettey

Dr. Sodzi-Sodzi-TetteyDr. Sodzi Sodzi-Tettey is a District Medical Practitioner offering frontline healthcare delivery services in the Volta Region of Ghana. A change agent with a passion for transformational leadership, he confounded many colleagues with his decision to relocate to rural Ghana after completing most of his education in the capital, Accra. He is a product of prestigious Achimota School, where he did his O & A Levels in the Sciences, passing the former with distinction. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Ghana Medical School as a member of the Class of 2003.

Sodzi has also had a distinguished track record in student leadership and activism where his knack for dynamism, innovation and generating creative strategies to meet emerging challenges has been amply tested and proven. He was recently elected by an overwhelming majority of his peers and seniors to direct the affairs of the Ghana Medical Association as its General Secretary. His term of office commenced in November 2007. He is one of the youngest physicians to assume this crucial position and plans to use this platform to contribute to the process of health policy formulation in the country while advancing the welfare interests of the membership of the Association.

With some training in Health Administration and Management, Dr. Sodzi-Tettey intends to pursue further training in Public Health as a means of increasing his capacity to contribute meaningfully to meeting and improving the healthcare needs of under-served people and areas.

Sodzi’s Pan-Africanist orientation and passion for affirmatively disruptive leadership has seen him team up with other young leaders and social development workers to train others whose leadership will in turn effect change in the communities of Africa regardless of age or gender. As change agents themselves, these leaders will likewise help unleash the full potential of Africa with its various and diverse endowments.
